ABOUT DR HARADA SHUUZABUROU

With over 40 years of professional expertise in Traditional Japanese Medicine, including a unique and painless style of Qi acupuncture, an ancient moxibustion technique and painless body alignment, Dr Harada is a gifted Master Practitioner. The style of acupuncture and moxibustion that Dr Harada offers helps relieve numerous bodily problems and can be incorporated as preventive medicine to cultivate more ‘Qi’ (vital energy), improve relaxation and enhance circulation to support overall health.

He is well-versed in joint mobilisation techniques, which are used to increase the range of motion of an injured limb, align the articulation surfaces of a joint and reduce joint friction. The incorporation of all of Dr Harada’s methods has the combined effect of balancing the autonomic nervous system, sustaining homeostasis, promoting wellbeing and increasing the natural healing capabilities within the individual.

Dr Harada resides in Japan and acquired his national acupuncture license in 1988, along with studying ‘Joint Mobilisation Technique.’ He has over 40 years of clinical experience and runs his busy clinic in Tokyo.

TREATMENT EXPLAINED

The ancient art of Japanese Medicine and healing for total health differs from other acupuncture traditions in various ways. Although all acupuncture disciplines influence the meridian energy flow by using needles on certain points of the body, Japanese practitioners generally use finer needles with the help of a guiding tube that stimulate more gently and superficially. They often do not consider the strong ‘de-qi’ sensation (a sensation of numbness, heaviness or distension at the area of needle insertion) to be of primary importance.

Moxibustion is a form of fire heat treatment that stimulates specific acupuncture points of the body. The term is derived from the Japanese ‘mogusa’ meaning herb (mugwort) and the Latin ‘bustion’ meaning burning. In conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion can be very effective for many diseases and conditions, including muscle stiffness, migraines, arthritis, digestive disorders and anxiety.

Dr Harada has a unique style with a soft, feather-like touch, promoting a “dancing-like motion of energy circulation within the individual.” Ensuring that the patient remains in a state of constant relaxation and calm throughout the session is of prime importance. Creating a safe atmosphere and using a painless, light touch when inserting needles are standard practices in his sessions. Dr Harada does not leave the patient after all the needles have been placed on the body. Instead, he stays in the room and ensures the healing process is carried out according to traditional diagnosis.
